Here are some snap shops of my shop. As you will easily be able to tell, the shop is somewhat of a hybrid between a machine powered shop and hand tools.  No matter if it a machine or hand tool, I like to go with vintage tools whenever possible.

My shop is located in a two car garage on the front of my house. This has caused some problems, mainly in the limited amount of available space and the constant traffic from the family. There has also been several battles over the years with my wife concerning the lack of space to park a car (hers) but that is another story.

Here is an overview of the main shop area:

Some of the vintage machines you can see from this shot include my 1945 Delta Unisaw, my J. A. Fay & Egan Miter No. 6E Miter Trimmer, and my Crescent 24" Jig Saw.  Also, you can see the rear view of my workbench and tool storage area.

Here are some more shots of layout of the shop:

The above shot shows my vintage Crescent 12" Jointer.

Here is a shot of my hand tool storage area. I basically constructed a simple overhead cabinet which I left open for tool storage. Beneath, is hanging tools. (note, this is an old picture - the shop has been re-arranged since this picture).

A close up of my saw till (or more appropriately a saw "rack".) This is a very handy way of storing saws and in my case even squares. It takes up very little space and still puts my saws at easy reach. Simply made by dowel rods glued into holes bored into a board. For more info on this saw rack, go to my Saw Rack Page

A close up of my chisel rack. This is basically the rack shown in a recent issue of American Woodworking (#74 August 1999, pg. 58). For more info on this chisel rack, go to my Chisel Rack Page

And finally, here is a shot of my lumber rack. Again, a simple cantilever design that allows for quite an amount of lumber to be stored in a small area. I decided to not put shelves on the lower part in order to provide some more much needed floor space. For more info on this lumber rack, go to my Lumber Rack Page
